Managing Dockable Views
Sequence Diagram Editor  Top  Previous  Next

The diagram and classifier explorer are examples of dockable views that are grouped into a tab group by default. These dockable views can be floated, closed, resized, redocked, and unpinned (auto-hide) using drag and drop or through their context menu.

Any drag operation can be cancelled before the drop by pressing the Esc key before releasing the mouse button

To close a docked or floating view:
·Click on the close button
-or-
·Select the Hide command from the context menu

To float a docked view:
·Drag the view through the caption until the window becomes a floating window
-or-
·Toggle the Floating command through the dock context menu (right click on the caption)

To dock a floating view:
·Drag the view through the caption to the desired dock location (one of the sides of the main window). When the window reaches a dock location the shape of the drag rectangle will change to indicate that the view is about to dock.
-or-
·Toggle the Floating command through the dock context menu

Views can be docked in a variety of ways relative to other docked views (to form a tab group, horizontal group, or vertical group) based on how they are dragged. In addition, the ordering of the tabs within the tab group can be changed by dragging the tab to its desired location.

Vertical Group:

Horizontal Group:

To change from tabbed group to horizontal/vertical group:
·Drag the view from its tab until the drag rectangle assumes the right shape for the horizontal or vertical grouping

To change from horizontal/vertical group to tabbed group:
·Drag the view from its caption until the drag rectangle assumes the tabbed group shape

The auto-hide (unpin) feature allows the docked views to be minimized to the dock side of the display (similar to Visual Studio) and popped up when the mouse hovers over them.

To auto-hide a docked view:
·Click on the "pin" icon next to the close button
-or-
·Toggle the Auto Hide command from the context menu

To "pin" an unpinned (auto hidden) view:
·Hover the mouse over the hidden view to display it
·Click on the "pin" icon next to the close button
-or-
·Toggle the Auto Hide command from the view's context menu

Docked views can be resized by the appropriate resize bar(s). Cursor should change into a resize split bar cursor when it is over the resize bar.
