Block Element

Represents a loop or conditional block associated with a header element. Blocks can only be attached to lifelined header elements.

Blocks may be nested within other blocks. The block ends at the end of the diagram or at the next unmatched Block End element.

Blocks are added or modified using the Block Input Form:

TIP: Pressing the Esc key will clear the contents of the input form and return the focus to the Type combo box. You can then select the type of element you want to add from the dropdown or by typing the first few letters of the desired selection.

For	Name of the lifelined header element associated with the block
Text	Text for the block
Width	Width of the block's curly brace (in inches) or blank to use default
Padding	Additional padding applied to the block's curly brace (in inches) or blank to use default
Left	Select to place the block's curly brace on the left side
Right	Select to place the block's curly brace on the right side
Brace on Lifeline	Check to place the curly brace on the lifeline, uncheck to place against the side of the diagram
Connect to Lifeline	Check to connect the curly brace to the lifeline using a line, uncheck to leave them separated. More noticeable when brace is not attached to lifeline or has extra padding
Doc	Documentation note for the block element
Show Doc	Check to show documentation for the block in the diagram as an element documentation note or uncheck to hide (depending on Diagram Properties)

TIP: You can edit the element's documentation notes in a larger window using the Edit Documentation... command in the Diagram Menu
