Actor Element

An actor is a header element that represents an external user or interface that interacts with the system being described.

Actors are lifelined elements, which means they can send/receive messages and have actions, states, blocks, and timers associated with them.

Actor elements are added and modified using the Actor Input Form:

TIP: Pressing the Esc key will clear the contents of the input form and return the focus to the Type combo box. You can then select the type of element you want to add from the dropdown or by typing the first few letters of the desired selection.

Name	Name for the actor (must be unique in the diagram). The name is used to refer to this actor when adding body elements such as messages and states
Stereotype	Stereotype applied to the actor
Classifier	The classifier for the actor. Stores the messages, states, actions, and timers associated with the actor and is used for auto-complete
New...	Create a new classifier to associate with the actor (see Creating Classifiers)
Text	Overrides the default display text for the actor (leave blank to use the name)
Display Name	Check to include the actor name in the actor display text
Display Class	Check to include the classifier name in the actor display text
Doc	Documentation for the actor (not displayed in the diagram)
Padding Left	Additional padding (in inches) on the left side of the actor
Padding Right	Additional padding (in inches) on the right side of the actor
